Schools Are Collapsing Under Unmanaged Emotion.
That pressure is exhausting teachers, overwhelming leaders, and blocking learning for students.
Emotional Schools builds emotional intelligence into the daily life of a school.
So staff feel supported, students can regulate, and learning can actually happen.
This isn’t another program.
It’s the operating system schools have been missing.

Honest Reflections From Educators

Chelsey S.
“I’ve never felt so good after a PD! We have such a better understanding of ourselves and our students. I also think you should be doing this as a course for BEd students at TRU…” Brittany A. “Thank you for teaching us. We are so excited for this amazing framework. I can’t wait to watch the kids thrive.” Jessica S. "I am looking forward to students/staff all being on the same page with clear communication, expectations & a common language." Anonymous (High School) "This was a stark reminder that humanity and relationships need to be kept at the centre of teaching / education." Theresa T. “This was a reminder that it starts with me and that my own trauma can follow me into a classroom, so I need to self-reflect, be conistent and accouontable and NOT in engage in a bitch fest.” |
Richard B.
“Gives us tools to work with children with anxiety, but also reminds to be mindful of our own mental health when working with our students." Candice W "I feel more postive, inspired and a little more hopeful about the future of education." Jen K. “So exciting! This is a perfect fit. We appreciated your knowledge and experience.” Taylor M. “This is the change we need! It allows you to "balance" and help "all" in schools. I would also say that if this framework is followed change WILL happen ” Anita S. “Moves you from "on your own" to a TEAM. Builds community, a common language and a framework that helps adults and students to self -reflect, self-regulate and model. ” |

The Medicine Wheel Foundation
Balance isn’t optional. It’s survival. When schools lose balance, they lose everything. The Emotional Schools Framework is grounded in the Medicine Wheel, a time-tested structure that restores balance across students, teachers, leaders, and community. When all parts of the circle are honoured, schools stabilize. When one part is neglected, everything feels heavier than it should. |
The Medicine Wheel in Practice
When one part of the circle is ignored, the whole system feels it. Mental Emotion is taught, not punished or ignored. Behaviour becomes something schools can understand, teach, and respond to with clarity. Emotional Regulation and relationships come first. Staff and students learn how to calm, connect, and recover, before burnout takes hold. Physical Spaces support nervous systems. Classrooms are designed to reduce stress so learning has a chance to happen. Spiritual Purpose, culture, and belonging are protected. Schools become places people want to stay and not survive. |
These teachings are shared with permission from the Elders of the Nłeʔkepmxc and Syilx peoples. Elders encourage me to bring these stories into schools so students can experience the beauty of Indigenous culture. Note: specific ceremonies (e.g., blanketing, food offerings, birth/death practices and more) vary by Nation and should always be taught by local Knowledge Keepers and Elders.
The Transformational Results
What happens when emotional intelligence is in harmony?
Imagine a school where stress no longer runs the show, where educators feel steady, students feel safe, and learning flows naturally. That’s what the Emotional Schools Framework makes possible.
Students develop resilience by understanding emotions as natural and manageable.
Staff gain tools to prevent and de-escalate challenges with compassion.
Schools stop “adding on” emotional learning and instead reimagine education as a journey of mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth, where academic success becomes the natural outcome.
Communities benefit from the ripple effects of emotionally intelligent graduates.
Indigenous and non-Indigenous learners alike thrive in systems that honor whole-person development.
This isn’t about adding more work. It’s about creating schools that finally work.
